News
This is all old news, too much is going on with this band to even start to put on this webpage. If you want to
be updated, please sign the mailing list, and we'll keep you updated.
We are currently nominees for two categories in the 2007 Inland Empire Music Awards:
Best Classic Rock band, and Best Live Band. We play the Finals Saturday January 6, 2007
with the other finalists that made it to the final top ten.

Okay now that we actually have some news, we never update this thing. We're playing
shows like crazy, and booking more, so please do what you can to make it to see us. We
are in the studio working on a three song demo, the songs are: B-Side, Daylight Honey,
and They Just Don't Get It. It should be completed within a couple months. In the
meantime, we have a CD of our interview and acoustic set we did on The Vinyl Hours radio
Show on KUCR 88.3 FM (It's on every mon from 7-9, you can stream it on www.kucr.org, so
make sure to turn your TV off and tune in every Mon.) So if you missed the episode with
us, let us know and we'll send you a CD. Also we have a CD we recorded in our garage of
a rehearsal, that we give to friends, and if you'd like one don't be afraid to ask.

We have a new full time drummer, Rene Felix! We have jammed with Rene from time to
time, through the years so we're excited to have him. We have been rehearsing overtime
working on getting him dialed in, and fine tuning some of the songs and introducing new
ones. Also we recorded a live 5 song CD live in the studio with our original Drummer Jeff
Moody, the song list is:
1. Friends
2. They Just don't get t
3. As I Sing Here
4. B-Side to Honky Tonk Woman
5. I Feel Alright

We are getting close to finished with the home recording. Although we’re close to getting
done, it doesn’t mean much, because every little thing friggin’ takes forever. It’s just the
nature of recording when you don’t know what you’re doing. So far we have an new one
called Na NA NA (for the moment), and 5 Souls, are 99%complete. As I sing, and Daylight
Honey almost complete, and we haven’t started with B-Side to Honky Tonk Woman. After
we’re done we will take them into a studio to have them mixed and mastered. Then we will
order a pressing for our demo/1st EP.
February we have Jeff sitting in for us, and we are playing Angels Roadhouse in Yucaipa,
then the next day going into the studio to do some quick live recording with Jeff. It will
mostly be for fun. Jeff helped start the band and was in the band for so long, we would
like to get down a recording of what we sound like with him. If the recording turns out
decent we will order a small pressing, as a special EP for fans and friends. At that session
we are not going to record our best songs, but we are going to focus on the songs that
shine better live, where a track by track recording process would kill the vibe of the song.
We plan on recording: She’s My Babe, Friends, an new one Brett just finished, that will
definitely get you grooving. As well as whatever else we feel like recording at the time.
Maybe Folsom Prison Blues.
Then we are going to start our search for another drummer. We’ll get him dialed in and
start playing shows regularly, and after May go into the studio on a piece by piece basis
and start work on a full album.
In the meantime we might play a show here or there, to give you all your jollies.

are once again without a drummer. But in the meantime we are busily working on recording.
No really. It’s long overdue to get a good recording of some of our songs. So we have been
focusing entirely on recording. We have two songs almost ready to be mastered and mixed
the studio at the beginning of February with our original drummer, Jeff Moody to record some
tracks. We have been talking of possibly playing a show or two in the meantime, and having
Jeff of Rene fill in for us. We are not planning on looking for a permanent drummer until the
recording is done, but if you know someone who would be great for us, let us know.
As a side thing, I (Brett) am joining a hobby band with Jeff as well, so if you know of any
musicians that may be interested in joining let us know, we will rehearse one day a week at
Jeff’s. So anyway, we just wanted to keep in touch and let you all know what we have been
doing.

We have a new drummer, Colin Riner so say hello when you see him. We’re
working on home recording again, but I know you’ve heard that before. Jeff Moody
just got married to the beautiful Julie Helms, so send your congratulations if you
haven’t already and a really expensive present as well!
I (Brett) still Jam with Jeff on a regular basis, and we may get another project
started.
We're Playing Worthington's November, then plan one show in December, then we
plan on scheduling a slew of shows in the new year. We're using the time Nov-Dec
to record and work on an acoustic set.
July 23, 2005
It's been a while since we last played a show. We stopped scheduling shows way
back, to make time to go to the studio, although we never made it. We played a few
parties, but as far as public shows, we haven't done much.
We have three new songs that will blow your minds. We had some shows scheduled,
and if you have caught word of those, we have cancelled them. Jeff is taking a break
from the band. With work, kids and planning a wedding, things were getting tough to
juggle all that along with a band. So if you know of any drummers looking for a band,
point them our way. Steve and I are trying out drummers as we speak. We have a
show scheduled Saturday August 20 at All About Coffee in Corona, that I (Brett) will
keep and I'll just play a short solo opening set, Steve may join me. I'll be playing from
7:30-8:00 than after me is a great original band called Neon Fields. It's free, and all
ages, check the website for more info.
Other news, we finally have some music posted. The recordings are of a rehearsal, so
the recording quality is far from the best, but at least it will satiate your Soul of the
River tastebuds.

We have three new original songs that are incredible, we can't wait to play them for
you. We are getting interviewed for Digress Magazine this Thursday, so look for us in
that. We are scheduling shows again, we're not going to the studio for a while, so
ignore what I said before. We will I promise. I have some video clips of us live and a
few songs to post for download or streaming on here but can't get it to work, If you
have any ideas on how, let me know, webmaster@souloftheriver.com

Since the last show at Universal Bar and Grill, we decided that we will not schedule any
nice, relaxing, coming home to a normal life, not constantly working at being the
greatest band in the history of the world. Steve used some leftover royalties from his
previous band, Menudo, and spent the time in Bali. Jeff starred as Batman in the new
previous band, Menudo, and spent the time in Bali. Jeff starred as Batman in the new
Batman beginnings and as Darth Vader in the new Star Wars flick, both in costume
only. Brett spent most of his time picking fights with junior high kids. Dennis put the of
pirhanas, and a secret maze of death for unwelcome visitors.
We all got started rehearsing for the studio, when Brett got sick. We plan to get started
a third time this week and have the demo recorded within a month.

We're going into the studio, to make a real CD, so you can brag and show your
friends that you knew of us before them. Then they will ask for a copy and you will
burn them a copy, instead of having them buy a real one from us, and you will never
tell us, even ten years from now, although we wouldn't give a crap.

The Show at Pepito's went great, we wanted to thank everyone for coming out
and having a great time. You guys ROCK!!!!
December 24, 2004
Still doing the home recording. Steve and Brett performed an open mic at Racers
December 22, 2004, and had the crowd chasing them home screaming for more.
They had to hide behind newspapers at a bus stop like the Beatles to get away.
Brett did a solo acoustic open mic at the Coffee Depot Dec 23, 2004 and will have
a live recording of the performance.
September 12, 2004
We are now recording studio quality recordings of our songs, which is very time
consuming, so it will be a while until they are completed. And we are also recording
live rehearsals, which will not sound as good, but we will at least have something for
you to listen to until the studio tracks are done. Yeah I know I know, we lag. But Jeff
is dilligently on our case to "Finish it already!". But if you haven't heard us, then
when they are completed, you will see that we are truly as great as we say we are.
May 20, 2004
Brett and Steve are busy recording the rough tracks for some of the songs, so you can have
something to listen to while you should probably be doing something more responsible. But we do it
for you, because you are very very special.
